What is Scalp Micropigmentation?

SMP (scalp micropigmentation) is a non-invasive, non-surgical treatment, similar to cosmetic makeup tattooing and body art tattooing, however SMP uses special organic pigments, developed specifically for the SMP procedure. The micro needles make tiny impressions to the epidermal layer of the scalp, essentially replicating new hair follicles, to give the appearance of a buzz cut, or very short stubble.

SMP can also be applied to create density to existing hair to give the illusion of a full and healthy head of hair.

At SMP Africa we use 100% organic, vegan pigment, specially formulated for the scalp, which expedites the healing process.

Natural Look

Mentored by the industry leaders, Paul Clark and Simon Lane, our team have perfected the art of creating the most natural looking hairlines and density placement procedures for our clients.

World Class Facility

Our state of the art clinic, based in Cape Town’s prestigious De Waterkant district, is the only world class Brandwood endorsed and accredited, medical-grade facility of its kind, in Africa.

”Did you Know?” – “Pointillism is a technique of painting in which small, distinct dots of colour are applied in patterns to form an image.”

That exact definition outlines the SMP technique perfectly. Different grades and shades of a particular colour are strategically placed via a pattern of dots on the scalp, creating the appearance of closely cropped hair.

SMP Africa is accredited to the world renowned Brandwood Clinic, UK. Where Kim Jessop (owner/director practitioner) trained and apprenticed under master artists Paul Clarke and Simon Lane

Our ProcessHow It Works

Free consultation

We invite you to have a free, no obligation consultation with one of our internationally accredited artists, either face to face or via video call. It is during this meeting that we will ascertain the scope of treatment needed after assessing your hair loss situation and offering hairline recommendations, and of course the cost of your personalised procedure, should you wish to proceed.

Book Your Dates

After you are satisfied with your hair loss treatment plan, we will schedule your treatments. Typically, you will need 3-4 sessions, with 7-10 days between each session to achieve perfect results.

Treatment Begins

The first session is used to map out your desired hairline and lay a foundation of replicated hair follicles. Each session would take approximately 2-4 hours. After your final session your practitioner will provide you with all the aftercare instructions to ensure the best possible result.
